A conversation between 3 rogue sheep from Huddersfield.
On 12th May, Dom, Christian of Sheep Farm and yours truly attempted to record a podcast. Unfortunately, we were dogged with technical issues: Dom’s internet connection kept dropping out and my old MacBook is evidently too much of a vintage model to handle the recording application, Streamyard.
Despite these issues which lead us to postponing it for 48 hours, we did manage to salvage some of it and what remains is foretaste of the longer 2 hour conversation which can be heard in MP3 format and downloaded below this post or from here.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome my new subscribers, many of whom have wandered across from the sheep pen. It’s great to have you on-board.
The conversation begins with us reminiscing about our school days at Salendine Nook High School and being brought up in Huddersfield, a small town on the Eastern slopes of the Pennines, where the rains sweep in horizontally, men are men and the sheep are worried…
It does seem like an age ago and, whilst I would not depict it as a halcyon, carefree time, the 70s and 80s were decades of comparative freedom, especially for youngsters like us.
‘Laking’ out meant being out under the brooding skies, all day and roaming wheresoever we chose to go – a far cry from the screen-filled epoch of now.
I always enjoy our conversations; they flow easily and it feels like we have known each other a long time. In case you were not aware, this was my third time on the Sheepcast, and the others can be heard here and here.
We touch on the subject of education and how homogenised the school system has now become.
We also consider the varieties of Yorkshire accents, there is the world premiere of my nadhim Zahawi “Pink Jabber of Baghdad” song (above), a reference to the Hanta virus, how all the narratives are falling apart, some maritime references, including a reference to Huddersfield’s own John Hamer and Andy Ross’ book, Sixty Degrees South: Beyond the Ice Wall which was reviewed here.
My congratulations to Dom on the publication of his first book, ‘Traitors: the Plandemic Politicians’, which he has kindly sent me for reviewing and which proudly sits alongside some other fine tomes on my bedside book shelf:
If this has whet your appetite, then, the full recording of 14th May can be heard here. (Right click to save to as MP3 file)
As ever, thank you for your attention.
