Philosophy is Love of Wisdom.
phi·los·o·phy| fəˈläsəfē | noun (plural philosophies) the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. See also natural philosophy.
• a particular system of philosophical thought: Schopenhauer’s philosophy.
• the study of the theoretical basis of a particular branch of knowledge or experience: the philosophy of science.
• a theory or attitude held by a person or organization that acts as a guiding principle for behavior: don’t expect anything and you won’t be disappointed, that’s my philosophy.
ORIGIN Middle English: from Old French philosophie, via Latin from Greek philosophia ‘love of wisdom’.
Truth is eternal and so we have a series of epigrams from those philosophers, or lovers of wisdom who came before us. These maxims are, by definition, expressions of the Truth.
For this reason, it is fair to state that I am in Love – in love with the Truth and that these memes are but a timely and immortal expression of that fact:
A philosopher is able to express the Truth in the simplest of terms because he is like an alchemist who distills the matter down to its essence. When we hear the Truth, when we express it and when put our faith in it, we are shining a light which immediately dispells the darkness.
